Cristiano Ronaldo Was Criticised
Juventus were left without the Coppa Italia. Napoli won on penalties and lifted the trophy. And after a dark night for the Old Lady, the Italian press criticised Juventus on Thursday morning, especially Ronaldo.
A lot was expected of CR7. Juventus signed him at the time to win trophies and, in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday, he was missing.
‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ was compelling against the Portuguese in their newspaper on Thursday. “He was the worst”, the Italian paper said.
On the inside of its pages, more curveballs against Ronaldo: “He claims the privileges of a centre forward. He thinks he has the right to shoot every time he has the ball and he doesn’t realise that he’s not at Madrid anymore,” says journalist Sebastiano Vernazza in this newspaper. “And in the penalties… Did he have to hit the last one to celebrate it?” he finished.
Ronaldo wanted to hit the last penalty. A shot which never came… Another Coppa final which Ronaldo played and another which he was left wanting to lift the trophy.
The defeat has gone down very badly in Turin. In fact, Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is already being speculated about.
Nani, Ronaldo’s Portugal teammate, said that, at the time, he told him where he wanted to finish his career: “A few years ago he told me he wants to go to America, it’s not 100% sure, but very likely,” he confessed.
