Despite rumours that there could be supporters at matches before the end of June, Real Madrid insist they will not let spectators come to watch their games at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium.
This Tuesday, the surprising news from the Government that fans could be allowed in stadia subject to a series of conditions was confirmed.
The main teams in La Liga were positive about this measure, but Real Madrid, according to ‘Marca’, did not take too much notice of it.
The club are determined to play behind closed doors at the Alfredo di Stefao and they will not reconsider their decision. The newspaper reports that ‘Los Blancos’ are adamant they should play there – they do not have any other choice – and they will do so without fans.
Real Madrid took advantage of the fact the games are behind closed doors to bring forward planned renovation work at the Bernabeu and they will not be able to return until September or October. They made the move to Valdebebas and that is where they will play for the rest of the season.
Despite the rumours, Real still believe that fans will not be allowed in this season. In any case, Real Madrid are clear that, although there was talk of 2000 people being allowed, the La Liga side have no plans to change their mind.
